How To Decorate With Antique Trunks

It is not unusual to find an old trunk in the attic of your grandparents home. You may even find them at thrift stores or garage sales. The older the trunk, the more character it has. In fact, antique trunks make wonderful conversational pieces when displayed in your home. There are several ways to decorate your home using a trunk.

An older trunk can conjure up some very warm memories of childhood. You may even be able to find an old trunk with items till inside. The items you find might make for some interesting decorating. A trunk is very versatile and can blend with antique, contemporary, modern, and classic decor.

Aside from the decorative usefulness, the trunk serves several other functions. Of course the obvious function is as a storage place. However they also can be used as coffee tables that can also be used for storing various items. A trunk provides an excellent place to keep those things that you want access to.

Many times folks will have a trunk at the end of their bed that provides storage for extra pillows and blankets. To provide extra seating you can put a cushion on the trunk. Flat topped trunks are best for creating additional seating or for a coffee table.

A trunk can also be used for an end table. Set beside your favorite recliner, its flat top can hold a lamp, books, remote controls, or coasters. This end table will also provide convenient storage space for pillows and blankets, seasonal items, or holiday decorations.

All it takes is some creative thinking to find the perfect place for Antique Trunks. In the bedroom, bathroom, or living room, they are wonderful conversational items. While they can serve as extra furniture they also provide a good amount of additional storage.
