Although there are agencies who offer this service, you can also do it on your own. You may install a softener at home so you can have save more. Here are the steps to be able to successfully have it at the comfort of your home.

First, you need to get all the things needed. There are tools and equipment that you need for your project. Before starting it, recheck everything you bought.

Drain the lines by turning on the faucets minutes before you start the steps to officially install the softener. Then turn it off completely including the power heater. Place the softener that you bought with the package in a dry and safe level space. There will be 2 tanks to be used meaning, you need a bigger space for it. Place it beside each other.

Measure the length between the line of the cold liquid and the bypass ports on your tank. Cut a copper tubing following the length that you have just measured and solder the fittings at the ends. This task will involve a number of soldering work, so you better be ready for it.

When you purchase all the things needed, there should be a manual with the list of steps and procedures to successfully install your softener. Properly read and understand every bullet so you can do everything right. After, recheck all the things that you have bought. In case there is a missing piece, directly go back to the store and ask for it. If you do not do so, you will not be able to finish everything immediately.

Part of what you have bought is a tube. Prepare it and place it on the side of your conditioner tank. Another one would be a discharge tube needed for draining. Also make a draining system.

Now get the bypass valve and place it on the header of the conditioner tank. With a screwdriver, try to adjust the screws on the stainless steel clamps unto the seat valve. You will now need the copper tube so it can already deliver the liquid substance to the bypassing valve.

Now, you are ready to turn on the faucet and the electric heater then plug the control valve and put 4 gallons of liquid in the brine tank. Followed by the conditioner placed in the backwash stage then set bypass valve into the service position. Then everything will be up and working.
